Deliberate Attack: Graphic video released of car mowing down people in Times Square

WARNING: This video contains very graphic images

In my opinion, Richard Rojas, 26, made a deliberate right hand turn across traffic onto the sidewalk with the full intent of mowing down as many people as he could.

Rojas steered his car onto a sidewalk running through the heart of Times Square and mowed down pedestrians for three blocks Thursday, killing a teenager and injuring 22 others, authorities said.

An 18-year-old tourist from Michigan, Alyssa Elsman, was killed. Elsman's 13-year-old sister was among the 22 injured, four of them critically.

Rojas has been charged with murder and 20 counts of attempted murder. he was also was charged late Thursday with five counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.

The suspect initially tested negative for alcohol, but more detailed drug tests were pending, according to two law enforcement officials who were not authorized to speak publicly.  and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

Military officials confirmed that Rojas served in the U.S. Navy but was discharged after disciplinary problems. After his arrest, Rojas told police he was "hearing voices" and expected to die.
